Snow blankets the island but come back to visit when the crocuses are up!!
Columbus Day marks the end for the season of the Hardy Boat and Balmy Days coming out to the island. Water from the town source is turned off shortly thereafter, and most of the accomodations are closed or on limited service. It’s been a successful season for many, and exciting with the Quadricentennial, etc. Come see us next spring – who knows what may be new then!!
On August 5-8, all the organizations and people on Monhegan will join to celebrate the Quadricentennial of John Smith’s landing on the island. Read about it here: http://www.monhegan2014.org/ and plan to be on-island!!
This summer please consider helping out by volunteering on the trails when you visit Monhegan. Your assistance is needed, even if for only a morning or an afternoon, to control the growth. You may join a volunteer crew on Friday mornings (9 am to noon, weather permitting) which meets at the trails maintenance building behind the meadow (at the end of the road from the library) and/or adopt a trail or a portion of one and work on your own schedule. Tools and gloves provided.
